JD's Big Adventure Up Shaky-Quakey Peak

Postby jetdocX on May 17th, 2008, 10:15 pm

I said I was going to ride up to investigate the cause of all the rukus locally, so I took the loaner KTM 640 up Peavine.

I have no idea why the earth is shaking under this Peak, but I wore my tinfoil lined helmet just in case.. ;-)

On the way up, Reno in background:

Going up to those pointy things in the background:

I only crashed once. Solo trip so no gnarly single track for me this time, but that 640 can handle it. Interesting how an absolutely shitty street bike turns into the star of the show on dirt. I need one of these or a 525EXC. This will happen soon. Going to look at an XR50 for the Jetsquirt tomorrow!

Pond on the way up had fishies in there, too:

It was very hot today even at 8590 feet on top. I drank a half gallon of water in a couple hours. ATTGATT and all!

Fat Bastid on top of Peavine Peak:

Better put my helmet back on:

And I even got some flowers for Pilotgurl and Momentousrocks:

I'm tellin' ya! The owner even said, \"Hey you got it dirty! Nice!\".

Did I mention KJ rules? :-D

I rode down the other side of the MT. to his house. He insisted we take the back way back to my house (behind said peak and in the dirt) and I must ride his 400 Husaberg.

Anyone wanna talk about Husaberg?

OK, I will. Not much to talk about on pavement, but oh MY ON THE DIRT! This is the perfect trail bike, IMO. Open it up on a long dirt straightaway and listen to the intake growl! Sounds like a vulcan cannon on an A-10.

I think 400 is the magic trail number from now on.

I just wish H*nda would plate a CR400. What's up with that?

That KTM looks nice. A little lighter to handle than the Tiger

Nice pix!

BTW the RAF called, and they want their patches back.

Good info for someone who was thinking of getting a 640Adv...

I'm looking into trying to scratch that enduro bike itch with only one bike in the stable.... :? Doesn't seem possible (If you still want to ride the pavement stretches comfortably without vibrating your eyes off, that is...)

Nice pics JD, keep them comming!

Isn't a 'big adventure' on 2 wheels supposed to include this sorta thing?
